Does anybody know about the connection between the Oakland Seals and the San Jose Sharks? Well here it is in a nutshell.
In 1967, the Oakland Seals joined the NHL. Ten years later, they relocated to Cleveland and became the Barons. One year after that, they merged with the Minnesota North Stars. Prior to the 1991-92 season, the Minnesota North Stars were split and half the players became Sharks. The San Jose Sharks and the Minnesota North Stars then BOTH PARTICIPATED in the expansion draft. One year later, Minnesota moved to Dallas and became the Stars. Five years later, Minnesota was awarded another franchised dubbed the Wild. Currently, the San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars both play in the Pacific Division while the Minnesota Wild play in the Northwest Division.
Although there is not a single player who played for both the Seals and the Sharks... there is a weird connection between the two teams. And considering that they both call the Bay Area of California home... why not celebrate that connection by putting a Sharks logo on a Seals jersey?
Also... I think this should be the primary logo for the Sharks.
